This is where pub food grows up organic and good! G 's favorite dark beer here is the Trout Stout. If you are in the mood for something lighter he recommends the Leavenworth light. My favorite beer here is the whistling pig hefeweizen. Runner up is the organic pale ale.G's food pick is the cod and chips. My food pick is the smoked salmon salad. They also make my favorite homemade french fries. There is a very nice cheese assortment offered as well, for a lighter fare. The atmosphere here is very downtown olympia. A big cross section of cliental. It get's very crowded on weekends, so get there early if you want a table. The staff is friendly, but not overly so. Bring a friend if you want some conversation. There are plenty of places to sit. They even offer some nice comfy couches in the back half.

Okay this isn't just my opinion The trophy's lining the wall say it all. Reservations are highly recommended. We have visited the ranch house bbq on a few different occasions and it is always busy. If you have a large group (four or more) don't even think of coming with out making reservations. The service here is fast and friendly. The restaurant is a bit cramped and loud. The dress attire is causal. Since they are serving down home bbq, it kind of only adds to the whole feel of the bbq experience. I have tried the pulled pork, bbq chicken and the beef brisket. They are all so wonderful it is hard to pick my favorite, but if I was pressed, I would have to go for the beef brisket. Their coleslaw is the best this side of seattle. I even ate their potato salad! (I never like anyone's but my own) They serve a corn muffin with most of their meals which is good, but I would take it home and save room for the ribs. Speaking of ribs, they are not for the faint of heart. The serving size is about the same size as a Volkswagon VW. While on a recent visit some folks from Germany were visiting and was so astonished at the size they poised for numerous pictures to take back with them. The desserts are made in house and they offer a rather large selection for this town. They are some of the best I have had to date in Olympia.

Yes, Applebee's. Especially if the bartender's name is Nichole. She makes the best strawberry Mojito! You can even get it doubled for only a dollar more! I might add that she adds allot of humor and fun to the atmosphere as well. So don't go to Mojito Bay here in Olympia expecting to get a good mojito. Head on over to Applebee's and hopefully if your really lucky Nichole will be behind the bar.
Best Pie

Boston Habor Pie's

Now I don't think there is a much better dessert in the world than a good old fashion piece of pie. The problem is hardly anyone anymore has any concept of what a good piece of pie should feel like, smell like and taste like. I am extremely happy to say that Boston Habor Pie's does it the old fashion way. Every crust is hand made, no perservatives or machines are used to make their pies. The crust is flakey, tender and flavorfull. They have a very nice selection of pie's to choose from. Luckily they sell pie by the slice so you can take home several choices and decide on your favorite. My favorite choice so far is their raspberry/peach pie. I am not a huge fan of cream pie's. I tried a sample of their coconut cream and found it to also be heavenly. So it's time to stop trying to make your pie taste this good and order yours from boston harbor.

We have eaten here on a few different occassions and times of day. The first time was for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I will not be back. The meal was tasteless, cold and overpriced for what it was. The service was also really slow, unfriendly and not attentive in the slightest. I decided to give them another shot. This time we went for lunch at 1:30 again on a Saturday. The service was the same as before. The food was much better, though nothing super special. Just good ordinary restaurant food. Go there for the view. Don't be in a hurry. Expect to pay more than the food is worth and you wouldn't be disappointed. G said the oysters where pretty good, so was my blue cheese burger that had to be sent back since they forgot the blue cheese. It was good, but then at ten dollars for a hamburger it should be. The best tthing the four of us dinning that day had was their yukon mashed potatoes. Maybe next time I will go and order a side of them and just enjoy the view.

Good place to play a game of pool, and grab a beer while walking downtown. It claims to be the friendliest bar in town. I vote for being the second friendliest in my olympia adventure to date. The bartender there "Brandy' was extremely friendly and even recommended a new drink
concoction I must admit was very tasty. They have two pool tables, very clean and a pretty hip "juke box". My only complaint was the food was your usual bar food. I ordered the halibut and chips, might as well came out of a tv dinner. G had the green chili cheese burger. He loved it. Said it was better than Red Robbin or any other hamburger he had eaten in town. Brandy said they get their meat from a butcher, so that might explain it. The prices are good, so is the atmosphere. I wouldn't go there to eat, but if your drinking then try the hamburger if you get a tummy pain.

Dear Olyeats,
We took your suggestion and had lunch at Anthony's. You were right we loved the Chop Chop Salad!! Thanks again, for the tip of going for lunch instead of dinner when the prices are lower and the restaurant isn't as crowded. Your the best! Diane and Bill, Scottsdale, AZ
